Merry Christmas!

I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas! I am spending mine with my immediate family. The food has been abundant(and we’re only 10am..) and the gifts where everywhere. The weather outside is.. snowy and probably freezing but from indoors it makes for the perfect Christmas morning setting. I wonder how it is over in Uganda? Although it’s no longer morning there, it’s around 5pm(7 hr difference) It makes me sad and also fill me with a sense of happiness to think of them celebrating the day. There will be no gifts and the food won’t be plentiful, for many there will be none. But they will go to church and rejoice and spend time with family and neighbors. Celebrating life. It’s hard to think of the orphans and mistreated children on this day that has been showered with love for me and so many of us. I think of one of my sponsor children, Brenda, who lives with an uncle and his wife. The uncle physically abuses her and the aunt makes her feel unwelcome and unloved. For this one day, will he keep his hands off of her? Will the aunt share a hug with her? I have to hope for the best, but reality is it’s just an ordinary day for children like Brenda. And even if the spirit of Christmas hits the evil people, it usually leaves faster than when it came.

Please keep these children in your thoughts. Akwero Nancy and Abilo Betty who are both complete orphans. Owari Joseph, who is 9 but still in baby class(nursery) because his studies keep getting interrupted(he is pulled out to work) They are still looking for sponsors with many other children.

Enjoy the rest of the day and holidays!! Let the countdown to the 2009 begin!

I am thinking of my (now 5!) sponsor kids today as well. My Mom told me that she sponsored Rebecca for me for Christmas- I am writing her a letter right now! So excited!

Have a great Christmas!
